July 20 is ALWAYS National Lollipop Day!

Show of hands now...who knew that July 20 is National Lollipop Day????? Ok, well there's always one in every crowd!  WE here at Artisan Kitchen take our National Holidays very seriously and in order to celebrate this culinary celebration our Bakery Artists have created the tastiest Cake Pops ever!  They are absolutely precious in a RAINBOW of colors and flavors!

What exactly is a Cake Pop?  Well, Cake Pops are a baker's version of a candy lollipop only using cake!  Our deliciously moist cake is delicately blended together with rich butter cream frosting to form a ball and then dipped in milk chocolate or white chocolate and rolled in sprinkles!!!  Insert a stick and VOILA a Cake Pop is created!  I've sampled a couple, wink wink..and they are DELICIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!  We have Cake Pops in all of the most popular flavors this week--French Vanilla Butternut, Italian Cream, Strawberry, Double Fudge Rum Raspberry, White, Chocolate and Chocolate Peanut Butter!  Do I really need to go on?????

Stop by and pick up one or a dozen today!  They're specially priced at $2.50 each or $26.95 a dozen!

Cake Pops aren't the ONLY lollipop-like creations at Artisan Kitchen...don't forget about our Cheesecake Lollies!  Yummy cheesecake on a stick and bite size!  We keep those year-round in an array of flavors.  The most popular?  New York Style dipped in chocolate ganache.

Some interesting lollipop facts:
  • The first lollipops date back to the Middle Ages when nobility would eat a boiled sugar concoction with a stick.
  • The Racine Confectioners Machine Co. claims credit for inventing the first lollipop machine after agreeing to help another candy maker fill an order for hard candy on a stick.  Their machine made 40 lollipops a minute! FYI: Today's machines can produce up to 6.000 lollipops a minute.
  • Dum Dums came out in 1924 and were given their unique name when a clever salesperson decided that "dumdum" was a name even a baby could say! Now that's no dummy!
  • Tootsie Pops were invented in 1930. The company has new flavors out including pomegranate, banana, and green apple. Who knew?
  • Candy maker George Smith holds the trademark on "lollipop" after naming his stick candy creations after his favorite race horse--you guessed it--Lolly Pop!

Stop by and get a CAKE POP today but remember we will have them all week!
