Wine Tasting & Dinner at Shandies Featuring Eddy Creek Vineyard of Princeton!
Wine tasting dinners can teach you so much about wines and how the different varietals pair with different culinary creations.  Far gone are the days of strict wine rules: white wines with chicken or fish and reds with beef and pork!  The rules have lightened up and the wine varieties have changed a lot through the years!

So join Shandies' own Karla Lawerence as she teams up with the Eddy Creek Vineyard experts to create a fabulous four-course Wine Tasting & Dinner on Wednesday starting at 6 p.m.   The cost is $50 per person and you can make reservations by calling Shandies at 442.2552 or Artisan Kitchen at 538.0250.

For the first course, Shandies will present their signature East Indian Egg Rolls with a Green Tomato-Tamarind Dipping Sauce and Eddy Creek pairs that with its Chardonel--a semi-dry white.  The Chardonel is a fruit forward wine, with a nice and light taste.  This grape is a sister grape to the chardonnay.

The second course features Creamy Tomato Basil Soup and the Shandies House Salad.  The Eddy Creek Selection is the Vidal Blanc--a dry, crisp white wine with a blend of citrus, pineapple and pear nuances.

Parmesan-Encrusted Beef with Pasta Marinara--one of the most popular Shandies' specials--is paired up with a semi-dry red wine.  The Eddy Creek Chambourein tiers of oakiness, black cherry and plum characteristics.  It is served best at room temperature and pairs exquisitely with red meats and pasta.

And last but never least. The Shandies Brownie Craze featuring whipped chocolate ganache and white chocolate whipped cream is paired with the Eddy Creek Ruby Blush Infusion.  It's a sweet wine with a hint of spiciness and is a blend of the dry white Vidal Blanc and Chambourein.

Award-winning Eddy Creek Vineyards, formally known as Black Oak Vineyard, is basically right in our own backyard in the heart of Land Between the Lakes in Caldwell County--about six miles from Barkley Lake!  This boutique vineyard has been producing wine since it's first harvest in 2004.  It's owned and operated by Dr. David Hall and his wife, Dr. Jenny Franke, who bought the land to return to their family roots of wine making in Northern Italy and a beaming vision to add to the area's tourism.  They started out with 960 vines--and has developed quickly into 2500 plus vines.
